The "Wake Up In Makeup" tour hits Reno

There’s a specific kind of magic that happens when high-octane political metal meets circus-themed absurdity. Last Saturday at The Underground, Reno witnessed that firsthand as System of a Clown turned the venue into a greasepainted riot.

From the moment the house lights dimmed, the room began to energize. The Underground’s intimate setting provided the perfect pressure cooker for a crowd that was ready to party.

In the front row, fans were glued to the barricade, locked in a synchronized headbang that didn't let up.

Behind the front-row faithful, a whirlwind of a pit stayed active most of the night—intense enough to feel the heat, but fueled by the "great time" vibes that kept everyone safe and smiling.

The band didn't just play the music; they inhabited the chaos of System of a Down. Dressed in full clown attire, they managed to balance the visual gag with some seriously impressive musicianship.

This wasn't a "stare at your shoes" kind of set. The band engaged with the audience constantly, bridging the gap between the stage and the floor.

The setlist was a "greatest hits" fever dream. From the staccato madness of "Chop Suey!" to the haunting harmonies of "Aerials," they nailed the erratic shifts in tempo and tone that make SOAD so difficult to cover.

It’s rare to find a tribute act that captures both the technical precision and the unhinged spirit of the original artist, but System of a Clown pulled it off. If you walked out without a sore neck and a ringing in your ears, you weren't doing it right. Reno’s metal scene showed up, and the band delivered a circus worth joining.
